Overview
Through a series of lecture, discussion, scripted role-plays and work scenarios participants will learn about the basic components of Feedback: what it is, the importance of feedback and how to give and receive it constructively.

Participants will learn the types of feedback; what needs to be considered before giving feedback and what conditions are necessary for it to be successful. They will learn the guidelines for planning feedback and the eight steps to giving it effectively. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss instances in the workplace where feedback would be valuable.

The full day version of the course provides opportunities for participants to practice giving and receiving feedback scenarios.
Objective

Equip staff with knowledge and skills necessary for communicating more effectively with each other.

  • • Staff has developed a comfort level with giving each other positive and negative feedback, as well as inviting feedback from each other.
  • • Staff is dealing with concerns without personalizing feedback or getting defensive.
  • • Staff has increased ability and comfort with problem solving on a one-to-one basis, at the source.
  • • How to ensure a positive environment around the discussion – either if giving or receiving feedback.
